Meet the team
Simone Freeman
Co-Founder
Simone Freeman, co-founder of Freeman House, hails from Chicago's vibrant northside, where she began her coffee journey at 16. Her entrepreneurial drive led her to launch Sol Cafe, a kiosk, at 20, while studying at George Washington University. At 22, she returned to Chicago, answering the community's call in Rogers Park for a permanent Sol Cafe location.
Sol Cafe became known for its homemade chai, prompting Simone to establish Freeman House Chai in 2019 to fill the gap for fresh, flavor forward, café-quality chai in Chicago. Joined by college confidant Sanchit in 2020, Simone's entrepreneurial prowess has earned recognition from various media outlets, including Vocalo Radio, The Reader, Chicago Tribune, TimeOut: Best of Chicago Awards, and Innovation Awards.
Sanchit Mulmuley
Co-Founder
Sanchit Mulmuley, co-founder of Freeman House, hails from Chicago's dynamic southside. With a career dedicated to the intersections of food, beverages, agriculture, and sustainability, Sanchit's journey was shaped by his upbringing, characterized by sipping his mother's cherished chai and reminiscing about rainy days aboard Indian trains, relishing the warmth of gingery brews.
Drawing from these formative experiences, Sanchit plays a pivotal role in maintaining Freeman House's commitment to supply chain authenticity, particularly in sourcing ingredients from South Asia. Armed with an MBA from Chicago Booth and a bachelor's degree from UW-Madison, where he first crossed paths with Simone, Sanchit brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to his endeavors.
